The Adela Rose Farm
The Belted Galloway's first recorded history indicates that they developed during the 16th Century in the former Galloway district of Scotland, a rugged and hilly seacoast region where hardiness was necessary for survival. The Beltie produces high quality beef, which is lean and tasty. The meat is nicely marbled, but is lower in fat than other beef. A double coat of hair, rather than the layer of back fat most breeds require, provides winter warmth with 20 - 25% less food intake in cold weather.
Our Belted Galloway herd are raised naturally with their primary food source as pasture grass and hay. In order to get them to come in from their pasture to check on them, we feed a modest amount of grain twice each day. Their grain mix is comprised entirely of oats, beet pulp, and corn. Growth hormones, preventative antibiotics, and other unnatural practices common with commercial beef are not utilized at our farm. Unlike commercial beef feedlots where the animals are kept in small pens (often inside), our animals are pasture raised. Choose the healthier beef option raised naturally and humanely.
Beef is sold by the quarter, half, or whole. We are accepting orders for beef on a first come, first served basis. A quarter typically weighs between 100 and 150 pounds. You will have the opportunity to custom order how your beef is prepared (example: soup bones and stew meat versus more ground beef or sirloin tip roasts versus sizzler steaks). You will be able to customize your cuts including thickness of steaks, number of steaks per package, size of roasts, package size of ground beef, and much more.
