Welcome to the new and improved Made in Michigan Movement. We have taken some time off to get things right. We listened to your suggestions and made some changes. You asked for more depth and we gave it to you. Take some time to look around the new website and explore the many new features such as forums, blogs, and expanded member listings. Although the new site is gated and registration is now required, individual and basic business memberships are always free. We have new items that we are adding each month to provide you with an incredible Michigan experience. We are again reaffirming our commitment to you. Together, let’s earn it here, spend it here, and keep it here.

It’s Always Thanksgiving

I must stress that the Made in Michigan Movement is much more than just me. There is a team of people who loyally work behind the scenes that I must thank. I would like to thank my wife Lynn who provides me with an unlimited amount of support and encouragement. In addition, I would like to thank Dan Beaton from imakegraphics.com for carrying us through the second phase of our on-line presence and John Hogan of the HMB Group for developing our current website. Further, I wish to thank my long-time friend Vince Fullerton for his leadership and contribution. Also, I would like to thank Kevin Janeway from Talegator Distributors for his friendship and mentorship. Finally, I would like to thank all of you for your participation, support, input, and suggestions. This Made in Michigan Movement is for all of you.

The new website is member-based. Anyone who wishes to access the site must register. This includes individuals and businesses alike. Both individual and basic business memberships are free. Businesses that wish to gain greater access to the site and its advanced features may upgrade their memberships at any time. Membership does indeed have its privileges. MiMM to Offer HEROES Membership

The Made in Michigan Movement is a proud supporter of the American men and women, who protect, serve and keep us free each and every day. That’s why we are proud to extend a complimentary premium business membership to active, reserve, or retired members of Michigan: Police Departments; Fire Departments; Army; Navy; Air Force; Marines, and Coast Guard. It’s our way of saying thank you. Applicants must provide proof of service. Acceptable forms of proof include: Military ID; discharge papers; union card; or letter on official stationary from a Commanding Officer.

Arrow Uniform Hosts MiMM Networking Luncheon

On Tuesday, September 22, 2009, the first of many MiMM Networking Luncheons took place. It was hosted and sponsored by Arrow Uniform in Taylor, MI. Arrow has been a Michigan-based company since 1937 and has become a staunch supporter of the Made in Michigan Movement and its mission. Speakers included Russ Russell of Goodwill Industries, former MI School Superintendent Tom Watkins, and Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano. Over 100 people showed up for the initial event which includes representatives from such companies as Koegel, MIS, Willis, Omni Hotels, Art Craft Displays, Westin Hotels, Firekeepers Casino, and Covenant House MI. The event was covered by Crain’s Detroit Business in both their on-line and print formats which is currently available at news stands. Keynote speaker Robert Ficano noted, “…banding together will help Michigan businesses brave the economic downturn.” United we stand indeed. MiMM Engages Audiences at Speaking Engagements

One of the real pleasures of what we do is getting the opportunity to meet so many new people around the state. These are genuine opportunities to directly reach out to the people of Michigan. Recently, we were able to speak to the West Bloomfield Democrats and the business students at Cass Technical High School in Detroit. We are currently scheduling over a dozen new speaking engagements. The Made in Michigan Movement will speak to any civic, school, networking, business group or non-profit organization at no charge.
