First Annual Michigan Holiday Guide

“This year’s guide represents the start of what we hope will become a tradition for Michigan families and businesses,” said Made in Michigan Movement CEO Neil Yaremchuk. “Michigan’s farmers, craftsmen and other small business owners offer an incredible variety of outstanding holiday foods and gifts. We want the people of this great state to have a simple way to find out how their holiday purchases can support the Michigan economy, without sacrificing quality.”

Michigan-made gift ideas featured in the guide range from the Detroit-made Talegator sports tailgating accessory and handcrafted jewelry from Grand Rapids to Petoskey stone jigsaw puzzles made in Charlevoix and custom-built guitars from Kalamazoo.

The guide also features Michigan businesses from nearly every corner of the Upper and Lower Peninsulas offering food products in the following categories: Meats; Dairy; Bakery; Fruits, Nuts & Grains; Fudge, Candy and Chocolates; Snacks; Condiments & Sides; and Beverages.

“If every Michigan family purchased just $10 a week of local Michigan fruits and vegetables it would keep $37 million new dollars each week working for you right here at home," according to the Michigan Department of Agriculture.

The 2009 holiday guide is sponsored by Taylor, Mich.-based Arrow Uniform and Ann Arbor, Mich.-based HMB Group.
