The Belted Galloway's first recorded history indicates that they developed during the 16th Century in the former Galloway district of Scotland, a rugged and hilly seacoast region where hardiness was necessary for survival. The Beltie produces high quality beef, which is lean and tasty. The meat is nicely marbled, but is lower in fat than other beef. A double coat of hair, rather than the layer of back fat most breeds require, provides winter warmth with 20 - 25% less food intake in cold weather.

Our Farm and Dairy operates a grass-based cow share program in which people interested in unprocessed milk can buy a share of the herd of cows we manage. All cows have been tested for Brucellosis, Jhones, and TB. We test owners' milk on and off site on a routine basis. We milk in a grade a comparable milking parlor and milk house. All milk is filtered and never touches open air or our hands, it goes from the cow, through stainless steel pipes and into a bulk tank. Owners organize themselves into milk co-ops and take turns coming out to the farm to get their milk.

Bluewater Beefmasters is a family-owned cow-calf-to-finish operation located in northern St.Clair County. All cattle are born and raised at the farm, maintaining a closed herd. Cattle live on rotated pastures in the spring, summer, and fall, and are fed hay during the winter. They are never fed grain. We use no antibiotics, steroids, or implants of any kind, and we strive for a stress-free environment.
Dry-aged grass-finished beef is available in the fall as supplies last. We sell by the quarter, half or whole. Please call by phone for availability. Pick up only; we do not ship.

Laura’s Little Beef Farm LLC is a family run operation at our home. My wife and I began this quest early in 2005. Our first order of business is to raise meat in a manner that we would be proud to provide to friends and family.

The Lake Village Homestead grew out of an environmentally oriented educational research program, originally motivated by B.F. Skinner's book, Walden Two. Presently this extended family co-op occupies a mile and a half of lake shoreline and approximately 300 acres. The 120 acres of lake- front is owned by a non-profit corporation dedicated since 1971 to living, teaching and modeling sustainable agriculture as well as preserving natural habitat.

Garden Patch Farm is a small family-owned and operated Membership Farm. The ultimate goal at our farm is clean, nutrient-dense, delicious food that provides energy for the work ahead. The food we offer is entirely free of GMOs, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides, hormones, vaccines, or antibiotics!
